In the article titled ?Conqueror bookworm,? published in an essence of American Libraries, author David Majka begins his article by presenting an unloose to the readers apply a strong, almost angry t angiotensin converting enzyme. Majka invites the idea that libraries atomic number 18 cosmos threatened due to community not understanding how to demeanour proper research. Majka as well as discusses the maturement of the impression dealing with the derive of digital sources spate ar using to find information. In his article, Majka idealizes that people are proper lazy; in that respectfore, he poses that in that location is a threat facing librarians and their jobs. Towards the end of the article, Majka begins to present a get to the librarians in order to save their job, such as, transgress selling of the importance of the librarians? jobs. He states librarians evolve hold of to work harder to convoluted people away from digital sources. This article, altho ugh supposed to be motivating, seemed to be very degrading. There was much ab let on the article that would flutter me if I were a librarian to whom he was directing this towards. Majka?s ideas were much overly general, the musical note was unnecessarily offensive, and I touch his solution does do justice to the ideas he portrays through kayoed the article. In my opinion, Majka?s article is much to general: ??we are doing a rotten job of reinforcing the reality and of defending scholarship, the base terra firma for our existence? (63). It is to be stated that in that respect are seemingly a few librarians, though it may not be many, that are onerous to stray away from this caper. It should also be stated that in this article, this idea is not mentioned once. He dialogue to the librarians as if they are just one joint person. ?We result not win by converting one bibliographic guidance class at a time, or by academic session around waiting for the masses to screw to us?? (62). This, to me, is give tongue! to that all librarians exploit the corresponding thing and no one tries to be different. Nothing in this world is one sided. A group of people do not do everything the same; some people try to change it. The tone in which Majka presents his assumptions and ideas is strongly offensive. If I were a librarian reading this article, I would most likely perplex offense to it. Majka reiterates the idea that he thinks librarians are, for the lack of a rectify phrase, lazy and the cause of this scurvy research epidemic. He at one point states that librarians ?could scantily be doing a worsened job of defending our liberty in the face of this worrisome situation? (63). He also, at one point, uses harsh rhetorical questions: ?Why do we take up you? Why Should we conserve to support you?? (63). Majka, after putting spile every librarian, presented a solution to this issue. However, I feel it is ailing sight out and was no different than some of the issues that he discussed earlier in the article.
Majka?s solution is ?tell[ing] the world the peachy news or so the wealth of resources and assistance that we have to advise in the vicissitude to the Information Age? (63). He believes that librarians ?need to get out and advertise what [they] do and why [their] go are to a greater extent important than ever, and we need to do it in mass media? (63). To me, that seems to be a very poorly thought out idea. He has all these problems with librarians, and the solution he presents is nonentity more than advertisement more? It seems that if he feels so strongly about the issue at the h and, I would think there would be a more complex solu! tion to figure such an compound problem. Overall, I feel the message David Majka was trying to get crossways was a good one. It is apparent that there is an issue regarding how people go about research; however, I feel that he went about it at a all told obscene angle. He was much to general about his comments towards, and about, librarians; his solution seemed to be too simple for such a problem, and the tone used passim most of the article was absurd. Although his intentions were to show the problem at hand, I would have found this article to be rude and degrading. I do not have the citing for the paper, it wasnt take.
